Housed under the newly developed University Consortium of Schools (previously PreK-12), the UCLA Lab School is an innovative school for children ages 4-12 and a laboratory for teachers and researchers in the School of Education & Information Studies (SE&IS) at UCLA.
The Business Office manages and supports an annual budget of $11 million and manages over 100+ academic and careers employees, 30+ student workers, independent contractors, and volunteers.
The Financial Services Analyst, under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations, will provide fund management services for UCLA Lab School.
Major responsibilities include evaluating, streamlining and managing the reporting of data to UCLA Lab School administration and management at SEIS.
The incumbent will assist the Director of Finance and Operations by inputting the Sales & Service annual budget of $11 million across fund sources, gifts, endowment funds, Summer School funds, and private gifts into the campus budgeting system.
Project and monitor expenditures, develop routine financial reports and cost-benefit analyses.
Reconcile ledgers, input all financial data, and track expenditures.
Analyze expenditure trends and provide proactive recommendations to the supervisor to avoid overdrafts regularly.
Serve as the backup to the Procurement Specialist on all UCLA Lab School purchasing activities, using Bruinbuy Plus.

The Financial Services Analyst will also assist the Director of Finance and Operations in managing UCLA Lab School's cashiering operations and ensure compliance in all areas of cash handling.
Act as liaison with the departmental personnel and payroll manager of SEIS; initiate fund entries and direct retros in UCPath, coordinate payroll and personnel onboarding functions for all UCLA Lab School employees, staff, and independent contractors.
Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm Qualifications for Position 20 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred 1.
Strong demonstrated experience in preparing budgets, financial reports, and forecasting expenditures.
Skill in performing trend analyses to produce reports for management.
Required 2.
Demonstrated detailed working knowledge of accounting principles, policies, procedures, and practices for a large public institution of higher education.
Required 3.
Demonstrated skill and detailed working knowledge in financial management, planning, analysis, monitoring budgets, and control of funds for a multi-million dollar operation.
Required Demonstrated working understanding of relational databases to query payroll and financial data for reporting purposes.
Preferred 5.
Mathematical skill sufficient to calculate budgetary figures using computations such as ratios, rates, and percentages applied to categories, e.
g.
personnel costs, programmatic data, and other financial information with speed and accuracy.
Required 6.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel to produce reader friendly financial data and budget reports to perform analyses, and evaluate proper referral for further action.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint, Word, and Outlook Required 7.
Demonstrated skill in utilizing the University's Online Financial Reporting System, Bruinbuy Plus, Cashnet, and QDB.
Required 8.
Demonstrated skill in setting priorities, having strong organizational and time management skills, and being detail-oriented.
